Big News for the Upcoming Raptors Season

Some very exciting things are happening with the Front Royal Raptors this season.  Dual meets are being added to the schedule. Also, we are splitting practice into two groups to better serve each wrestler’s individual needs.

VAWA announced that they will be sponsoring a dual meet state championship along with the individual tournament this year. Elementary and Middle school division will be supported. The Front Royal Raptors plan to send an all-star team to the elementary division as well as support the WCMS team as the compete in this event. To be prepared we are adding dual meets to our schedule this season. Some will take place prior to our regular Mason-Dixon weekend events.  But there will be 2 or 3 dual meets that take place on the same mats on the same night of our Varsity home district dual meets. Very exciting!

Another great change for the Front Royal Raptors program is the plan to split practice into two groups.  The main motivation for this change is due to the increase in expected number of kids participating on the team this year. Additionally, the experience level of our wrestlers have really broadened. Splitting practice will allow novice wrestlers to learn and improve at an appropriate pace while also giving more experienced wrestlers a heavier pace that help them to continue to advance their skill level as well.

More detailed information about the dual meets and the split practice will be discussed at the Parent Meeting on November 13th at 4 PM.
